Home EV charger installation
A Level 2 charger fills up your vehicle overnight, in your driveway or your garage. STM-Électrique’s master electricians do the load calculation before suggesting anything, install the dedicated circuit and the charger, then test it with your vehicle, from Laval to the Laurentians and from Montréal to the South Shore.

In short
STM-Électrique and EV chargers
STM-Électrique is a firm of master electricians based in Mirabel, holding RBQ licence 5815-0137-01. It installs Level 2 EV chargers in homes, garages and outdoor parking spots, most often the FLO Home X3. The job includes the load calculation, the dedicated 240 V circuit, installing the charger, the municipal permit if the city requires one, the declaration of work to the Régie du bâtiment du Québec and a test with your vehicle. Allow about two weeks between the visit and the installation. The quote is written and free: 438 542-7304 or the form at the bottom of the page.
An EV charger project? Three contact details and a few questions are all it takes.
Get a quoteWhat we install, depending on where you park
The charger is rarely the problem. What decides the work is the route between your electrical panel and where the vehicle sleeps, and how much more your panel can take.
Charger in an attached garage
The simplest case, and the most common
The charger is mounted on the garage wall, as close to the panel as possible. The circuit is short, the charger is sheltered, and the cable stays clean even in the middle of winter. It is often a half-day installation.
Outdoor charger, by the driveway
No garage, or a garage that is already full
We install an outdoor-rated charger on the wall of the house, on the driveway side. Running the cable through the wall and protecting it from impacts and snow removal is planned at the visit, not on the day.
Panel already full: load management
To avoid replacing the panel
If the load calculation shows the panel is tight, a load controller can keep the charger and another large load from running at the same time. In many homes, that is what makes it possible to install the charger without replacing the electrical service.
Apartment buildings, condos and businesses
Shared parking and multiple chargers
In an apartment building, we assess the building’s capacity before talking about chargers, and we prepare the itemized documents for the assistance programs aimed at shared parking.

The charger we install most
The FLO Home X3, and why it comes up so often
We install the charger you chose, and we advise you if you do not have one yet. Our most common is the FLO Home X3, a Level 2 charger designed in Canada. We also install Siemens chargers.
What really matters for your file is the rebate: since April 1, 2026, only connected chargers, meaning chargers controlled by an app, qualify for the Écorecharge program, and the model must be on the Québec government’s official list. We check the list with you before you buy, not after. The full comparison is in our guide FLO charger: what it costs installed (in French).
- Up to 50 A, or 12 kW. The actual current is set according to your home’s load calculation.
- A 25-foot cable, or 7.6 m. Room to choose where the charger goes.
- Connected through the FLO app. Charging schedules and remote monitoring, and a connected charger is a condition of the rebate.
- 3-year limited warranty for residential use. Under the FLO warranty in effect since September 1, 2025.

Écorecharge: what the $600 really covers
The Québec government’s Écorecharge program pays $600 to an electric vehicle owner who has a charger installed at home. Two details avoid a lot of disappointment.
- The $600 applies to the price of the charger only. Installation costs are not eligible, nor is work on the wiring or the panel. The charger itself must cost at least $600 before taxes.
- The electrician’s invoice is required. The Construction Code reserves this work for an electrical contractor licensed by the Régie du bâtiment, and the application is made with the invoice for the installation work. We give you that invoice. Keep the purchase receipt for the charger as well: it is required too.
Program details, the 2026 pitfalls and the assistance offered by some municipalities are in our guide Québec EV charger rebate: what you can actually get. Official source: Québec.ca, Écorecharge eligible expenses (in French).
How it works
Three steps, from the visit to the first charge
- 1
Visit and load calculation
We look at the panel, where you park and the cable route between the two. The load calculation, which must include the charger since the Code update of March 26, 2026, tells whether the installation works as is, with load management, or needs more capacity. The quote is written, with every item detailed.
- 2
Installation, in one visit
About two weeks after the visit, we install the dedicated breaker, the cable and the charger. The power is only off for a few minutes, while we work in the panel. The municipal permit and the declaration of work are our business, not yours.
- 3
Tested with your vehicle
We plug in your vehicle, check that charging starts at the right current and set up the app with you. You keep the detailed invoice, the one used for the rebate application.

Where we work
EV charger installation in Laval, on the North Shore, in Montréal and on the South Shore
Our offices are in Mirabel. We install chargers everywhere STM-Électrique already works: each city below has its own page (in French), with what is specific to its homes and its rules.
Laval and the North Shore
Laurentians and Lanaudière
Montréal and the South Shore
Some cities offer their own assistance for a charger, on top of Écorecharge. The rules change from one city to the next and from year to year: we tell you at the visit whether yours offers one, and the rebate guide keeps the list up to date.

Frequently asked questions
EV charger installation: your questions
How much does it cost to install an EV charger?
At STM-Électrique, an installed FLO charger comes to about $1,750 for a single-family home, charger included, for a standard installation: a panel with room to spare and a charger a reasonable distance from the panel. A panel upgrade, a detached garage or a long cable run are extra. The exact price is written in the quote, after the visit. The details are in our guide process and pricing.
How long does it take to get a charger installed?
Allow about two weeks between the visit and the installation. The work itself is done in one visit, often in half a day for a simple installation, and the power is only off for a few minutes.
Can my electrical panel handle a charger?
The load calculation decides, and we do it before suggesting a charger. There are three possible outcomes: it works as is, it works with a load management controller, or you need more capacity. In many homes, load management avoids replacing the panel.
Does the Écorecharge rebate pay for the installation?
No. Écorecharge’s $600 applies to the price of the charger only, which must be at least $600 before taxes. Installation costs and work on the wiring or the panel are not eligible. The electrician’s invoice is required to apply, except for a charger plugged into an existing, code-compliant 240 V outlet, and the charger must be a connected model on the program’s official list.
Which charger do you install?
The one you chose, if it suits your installation. The one we install most is the FLO Home X3, a connected Level 2 charger that goes up to 50 A. We also install Siemens chargers. Before you buy, we check with you that the model qualifies for the rebate.
Can I install the charger myself?
Not if it has to be connected to the panel: the Québec Construction Code reserves this work for an electrical contractor licensed by the Régie du bâtiment, and without their invoice there is no Écorecharge rebate. The only exception is a charger that plugs into an existing, code-compliant 240 V outlet, in the garage or outdoors. Écorecharge then accepts photos as proof of installation.
What if my garage is detached from the house?
It can be done, but it takes longer, because power has to be brought to the garage: a trench, buried conduit and restoring the yard. If the garage already has power, it is a different story. We price it after a visit, never over the phone.
