A city made of cities
Montréal grew through annexations, and so did its wiring
Ville-Marie was founded on May 17, 1642. The city then grew by absorbing its neighbours: Hochelaga in 1883, Villeray in 1905, then Rosemont, Ahuntsic, Côte-des-Neiges and Notre-Dame-de-Grâce in 1910. In the early 2000s, Anjou, Lachine, LaSalle, Montréal-Nord, Outremont, Saint-Laurent, Saint-Léonard and Verdun became boroughs in turn. Today, 19 boroughs cover three quarters of the island, and Montréal is the largest French-speaking city in the Americas, with 1,938,161 residents in 2025.
Neighbourhoods annexed before 1920
Hochelaga, Villeray, Rosemont, Ahuntsic or Côte-des-Neiges: older, densely built areas where plexes often have several generations of wiring in the same building. Before adding a load, we check what each unit can really handle.

Electrical panel

In an apartment building, the question is not just “will it fit?” but “on which meter, and in which panel?” Here is what we check before suggesting anything.

Not always. We start with a load calculation: if the service has the capacity, a dedicated circuit is enough. If not, we explain the options, including a service upgrade, before any work.
Do you coordinate the power interruption with Hydro-Québec?
Yes. When a service entrance or panel replacement requires cutting the power, we handle the request with Hydro-Québec and tell you when to expect the interruption.
